The modest sandstone church sits just off the High Street in Bracknell, its squat tower visible from the town centre but easily missed if you're not looking. St Anne's has been here since the 12th century, though what you'll see now is largely Victorian restoration - the Victorians did love to meddle. Inside, it's all wooden pews and high ceilings, surprisingly spacious for how unassuming the exterior appears. The churchyard is genuinely peaceful, a proper oasis from the retail parks and traffic that surround modern Bracknell. There's not a huge amount to see if you're purely after architectural drama - you won't lose two hours here. But if you're the type who likes understanding a place through its older buildings, it's worth a quick stop. History enthusiasts will appreciate seeing how this medieval structure survived Bracknell's transformation into a post-war new town. The surrounding graveyard has some interesting older stones if you fancy a gentle wander. If you're staying at Warfield Park or Scotlands House Campsite nearby, it's an easy diversion on a rainy afternoon or between other activities. Best visited on a weekday morning when it's quiet and you won't feel rushed. Realistically, give it 20-30 minutes unless you're really into church interiors, then head back into town for lunch.
