St. Andrews

The church sits quietly on the edge of Othery, a village that honestly feels like it's been here since forever. St. Andrews is proper medieval - all stone and history - and the sort of place where you genuinely feel the age of things just walking through the door. The interior's straightforward, nothing fussy, with the kind of atmosphere that makes you naturally lower your voice.

This is one for anyone who likes poking around old churches without the crowds you'd get at the big cathedral jobs. History types will find it worthwhile; there's real character here. Kids might get restless after twenty minutes unless they're already into exploring tombs and reading plaques, but it works well as a short stop rather than a destination in itself.

The village location means it slots nicely into a broader wander round the Somerset Levels. Thornhills Holiday Park is just over two miles away, making it easy to pop out from there for an hour. If you're staying at Thorney Lakes or 5 acres on the Somerset Levels, both within striking distance, you can combine it with a proper walk across the Levels - the countryside around here is genuinely worth your time, even if the church alone isn't a reason to plan your whole trip round.
