St. Andrew’s Church

The church sits quietly in its churchyard just outside Rickmansworth, the sort of place you'd drive past without thinking twice if you weren't looking for it. St. Andrew's is a proper village church - medieval bones with Victorian tidying-up - and it rewards a visit if you're into old buildings and local history rather than Instagram moments.

Inside, there's decent stained glass and the usual font, monuments, and woodwork you'd expect from a church of this age. Nothing flashy. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think, which is increasingly rare. The churchyard itself is worth a wander - old gravestones, mature trees, genuinely peaceful.

This works best for walkers exploring the area on foot, or history enthusiasts who treat churches as open-air museums. Families won't find it particularly gripping unless the kids are seriously into medieval architecture, though it's a good spot to sit down if you're knackered from a longer ramble. Admission is free - it's a working parish church, after all.

If you're based at Penn Meadow Farm Camping or one of the other parks dotted within a few miles of Rickmansworth, St. Andrew's slots nicely into a morning walk before heading elsewhere. Don't set aside more than 20 minutes unless you're genuinely fascinated by the place. It's worth knowing it's there, but not worth detouring specifically for unless you're on a proper church crawl through Buckinghamshire.
