St Aidan

A small stone church that's been standing on the outskirts of Carlisle for centuries, St Aidan is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan to visit. The building itself is modest - nothing that'll make your jaw drop - but there's something genuinely restful about stepping inside and finding it peaceful, quiet, and thoroughly unpretentious. The architecture tells you this is proper old, though the exact dates escape most visitors because there's precious little signage about the place.

Who gets the most from it? Honestly, it's best suited to history buffs with a particular interest in Cumbrian churches, or walkers who happen to be passing through the area and want a quick spiritual or cultural pause.
