Spurn Hill

The walk up Spurn Hill is a straightforward afternoon outing from Erigmore, and the views across Perthshire make it well worth the leg work. It's not a dramatic peak - nothing that'll take your breath away in the Alpine sense - but it's a proper little vantage point if you're after somewhere to stretch your legs without committing to a full day's hiking.

Once you're up there the landscape rolls out nicely. You get a real sense of the geography of the area, seeing how the towns and farmland sit in relation to each other. The summit itself is straightforward enough, nothing technical. Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger ones might find the walk a bit tedious depending on their mood and the weather.

If you're staying at Corriefodly Holiday Park nearby, this makes a decent half-day activity - probably a couple of hours there and back if you take it at an easy pace and linger at the top for a bit. Go on a clear day though. I've done the walk in murk and it's honestly not much of a draw when the view's lost to cloud.

There's nothing to pay, no facilities on the hill itself, and you'll want proper walking boots if the ground's damp. It's the sort of place that works best as part of a broader Perthshire tour rather than a destination in itself, but if you're in the area with a spare afternoon and decent weather, don't skip it.
