Springfield Community Campus is Chippenham's main sports hub, and it does what it says on the tin - football pitches, tennis courts, and indoor facilities for anyone wanting to get active. It's the sort of place where locals actually come to play rather than gawp, which means you won't get the tourist experience you might at a dedicated attraction, but that's partly the point.

If you've got sporty kids who need to run around, or you fancy a game of tennis yourself, it's worth checking what's on and whether you can book something. The facilities are straightforward rather than fancy. Weather-dependent sports like football obviously work better in summer, but the indoor courts function year-round.

The campus works well as a break during a caravan park stay at Piccadilly (just three miles away) or one of the other sites clustered nearby - Plough Lane and The Moors are both within five miles. It's not the kind of place you'd drive across Wiltshire to visit, but if you're based locally, it's genuinely useful. Allow an hour or two depending on what you're doing. Ring ahead or check their website first since opening hours and booking requirements aren't exactly shouted about. Free to walk around the grounds, though activities themselves will cost. Chippenham's town centre is close enough for lunch if you want to combine it with a bit of retail therapy.
