Walking types staying at Bryndu or Hay-on-Wye Caravan Park will find this a rewarding detour - Brecon itself has plenty of mountain scenery and riverside walks if you want to combine it with proper hiking. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of chat about fermentation will get something out of it. Those after a quick souvenir shop experience should probably keep driving.
