Skyline Stage

The Skyline Stage sits right at Butlins Minehead, which means you'll stumble across it whether you're staying at the resort or just passing through town. It's an open-air theatre space where the entertainment team puts on shows during peak season - think seaside variety, comedy acts, live bands, that sort of thing. The stage itself is fairly modest by modern standards, but there's something about watching a show with the Somerset coast air on your face that beats being crammed in an indoor venue.

If you're staying at Butlins, admission is usually included in your package, so you might as well catch an evening performance. Non-residents can sometimes access shows if they pay day-visitor rates to the resort, though you'll want to check current pricing and what's on before you go. The atmosphere tends to be family-friendly and deliberately uncomplicated - nobody's pretending this is the Royal Shakespeare Company.

It works best if you're already based in Minehead or at one of the nearby caravan parks like Hoburne Blue Anchor or Warren Bay. Don't make a special trip just for the stage. But if you're doing a seaside holiday in the area and fancy an evening out with minimal effort, it fills that gap nicely. Shows run roughly two hours with a break, so factor that into your evening plans. Go in summer when the weather cooperates and the programme is fullest.
