The track itself is well-maintained, with enough twists and elevation changes to make it interesting rather than just lapping a flat circuit. You're racing against the clock mostly, though group bookings can do head-to-head competitions if that's your thing.

It's brilliant for kids aged eight and up, though younger ones might find the wait between races tedious. Adults who fancy a bit of competitive spirit will enjoy it too - there's something satisfying about nailing a corner you mucked up the lap before. The whole experience takes about an hour from arrival to leaving, though you can easily spend longer if you're doing multiple races.

If you're based at Sleningford Watermill just down the road, this makes a decent half-day excursion when the weather's decent. Camp Kátur Glamping is a bit further out but still within easy reach. Ripon itself has enough to occupy you - the cathedral's worth an hour, and there are decent cafes around the market square for lunch before or after.
