Rugby in Worcestershire means one thing: Sixways Stadium, home of Worcester Warriors and the sort of place that makes sense only if you care about the game. It's a proper working rugby union ground on the edge of Worcester, where the Warriors play their league matches, and you can visit on match days or during the season if there's an event on.

This isn't a tourist attraction in the conventional sense. You're not wandering around exhibits or queuing for photos. What you get depends entirely on whether there's a match or public event happening. On match days, the atmosphere is genuinely good - local fans, decent food stalls, and that particular energy of a live sport crowd. Outside of fixtures, the stadium is simply closed.

For rugby enthusiasts staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Mill House is closest at just over 3 miles, or Ketch at 4.2 miles - catching a Warriors game becomes a proper outing. Families with older kids who actually follow rugby will find it worthwhile; younger children will get restless fast without the context of the sport.

Check the Warriors' fixture list before you visit. Matches typically run September through May, and you'll need to buy tickets in advance for bigger games. It's worth a detour if you're into rugby, less so if you're just passing through.
