Sinfin Park

Sinfin Park sits on Derby's southern edge, a proper local spot that's been quietly doing its job for years without fuss. It's a straightforward leisure park - the kind of place where families come to burn off energy on the grass, walk their dogs round the perimeter, or just sit with a coffee and watch the world go by. Nothing fancy, but that's rather the point.

The park itself is fairly open, with good stretches of green space and paths that work well for a casual stroll. You won't find manicured gardens or themed zones here. What you get is a genuine neighbourhood park, the sort locals actually use rather than something built for the Instagram crowd. It's ideal if you're camping at Hill Farm just down the road - a ten-minute drive for a change of scene without leaving the area.

Best suited to families with younger kids who just need space to run about, or anyone after a low-key walk without travelling far. Allow an hour if you're making a proper visit, less if you're just popping in for fresh air. The park works year-round, though it's obviously more appealing when the weather cooperates.

If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby caravan parks - Hill Farm, Field of Dreams, or Broadleaves - Sinfin is worth knowing about for those moments when you want to get out of the caravan but can't be bothered driving into Derby city centre. It's convenient rather than spectacular, which is exactly what a local park should be.
