Showcase Cinema de Lux

The multiplex in Leicester city centre does exactly what it says on the tin - shows the latest blockbusters in decent-sized screens with proper reclining seats. It's a Showcase de Lux, which means the rooms are a cut above your standard cinema experience: wider chairs, fewer seats per screen, decent sound systems. Not revolutionary, but comfortable enough for a two-hour film without feeling cramped.

Families with kids will find the usual suspects here - Disney releases, animated films, the occasional superhero tentpole. It's also where you'd head on a rainy afternoon during your caravan park stay if the weather turns. Bradgate Park and Green Acres are only a few miles away, so this works well as a backup plan rather than a planned activity.

Standard multiplex prices apply - expect around £8-12 for an adult ticket depending on the time and film. Weekday matinees are cheaper than weekend evenings, obviously. The cinema's in the city centre, so you'll need to drive in and pay for parking, which adds to the overall cost. Car parks nearby, but they're not free either.

It's functional rather than special. Go if you need an escape from drizzle and three kids are climbing the walls. Don't plan a holiday around it.
