Seven Sisters Recreation Grounds

The Seven Sisters sits at the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons, a stretch of grassland and woodland that feels properly remote despite being only a handful of miles from Swansea. Walking here means following gentle trails past bracken and heather, with occasional glimpses of the ridges above and the valleys below. It's the kind of place where you'll genuinely lose mobile signal and feel a world away from the city.

Walkers absolutely love this. The terrain is straightforward enough that families with decent boots can manage most of it, though the ground gets boggy in wet weather. Birdwatchers come specifically for the upland species, and if you're into wild flowers, spring through summer rewards patience. The views aren't as dramatic as you'd get higher up in the Beacons themselves, but they're honest and quiet, which frankly beats crowds.

There's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of, so come prepared with water and whatever snacks you fancy. Most people allow two to three hours for a decent loop, depending on pace and how much time you spend dawdling. Free to access, naturally.
