Selworthy Farmhouse

The moment you walk up to Selworthy Farmhouse, you're confronted with something genuinely unusual - a sprawling cream-coloured farmstead that looks like it's been transplanted from a different century. Built in the 15th century, this place sits in the Exmoor village of Selworthy, just outside Minehead, and it's one of those spots that rewards a detour without demanding hours of your time.

What you get here is a proper farmhouse interior - flagstone floors, period furniture, the works - that actually shows you how rural Somerset folk lived centuries ago rather than dressing things up for tourists. The rooms feel lived-in rather than staged, which is refreshing. You can wander through at your own pace, taking in the timber beams and stone walls. It's the kind of place history buffs will spend a good 45 minutes photographing every corner, while younger kids might fidget after 20 minutes unless they're particularly keen on old buildings.
