A modest strip of woodland just outside Newark, Saxilby Community Wood feels like the kind of place locals have known about for years while most people drive straight past. Don't expect riverside walks or dramatic vistas - this is Nottinghamshire, after all. What you get instead is a proper native woodland, quietly tended, where you might actually hear birdsong. That's the draw.
