About Sanquahar Loch
It's walkers who'll get the most from this spot. The perimeter path takes about forty minutes at an easy pace, and the trees create shelter even when the weather turns. The water's cold enough that swimming isn't really on most people's agenda, though I dare say someone hardy will do it anyway. Bring binoculars if you're into birds - the pines attract woodland species and the open water brings waders depending on the season.
The loch isn't a destination in itself unless you're genuinely keen on Scottish lochs. But if you're based at The Loft Glamping and Camping nearby, it's absolutely worth the drive for a morning ramble. The walk works well for families with reasonably fit kids, though it can be muddy after rain and the path needs decent shoes. Allow an hour if you're taking photographs or moving slowly. There's a small car park at the western end, nothing fancy, but that's rather the point. This is working landscape, not theme park.
