About Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House & Museum
You can eat the buns downstairs in the café - they're served warm with clotted cream and jam, which is the correct way - but the real draw is the museum tucked underneath. The kitchen is on display, ancient brick ovens and all, along with bits of Roman pottery and medieval bits they've dug up over the centuries. It's small, honest stuff, nothing grandiose. You'll spend twenty minutes here maximum, but it's the sort of place that sticks with you.
This works well if you're already in Bath proper and fancy a proper tea stop rather than another chain café. The buns are genuinely good, though at these prices you're paying for the history and atmosphere as much as the cake itself. Bath Mill Lodge Retreat and Campwell Farm are both within a few miles if you're basing yourself in the area for a holiday park stay - easy enough to pop into the city for an afternoon.
It's not a long-haul attraction, but it's worth the detour if you like Georgian Bath and don't mind the tourist crowds. Kids will probably lose interest after cake, unless they're into old kitchens.
