The Church of Saint Nicholas sits quietly in Lutton, a few miles south of Spalding, and it's worth stopping by if you're already in the area exploring the Fens. You'll find a straightforward parish church with some genuine medieval bones - the chancel arch is proper impressive when you get up close, and there's enough carved detail to keep history buffs engaged for twenty minutes or so.

It's not a cathedral-sized draw, and that's rather the point. This is the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think, without tour groups and gift shop queues. The interior has that characteristic Fenland feel - sturdy, no-nonsense, built by people who knew what they were doing with stone and lime. Families with fidgety young children might find twenty minutes is the limit, unless they're already keen on old churches. Walkers will appreciate it as a route marker and a valid reason to stop mid-stride.
