Saint Mary-on-the-Rock

The church sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the River Ythan, about four miles south of Ellon, and it's genuinely striking - the kind of place that makes you understand why medieval folk chose certain spots. Saint Mary-on-the-Rock is small, old, and properly atmospheric without being touristy about it.
