Ruby's Field. Secure Dog Park

If you're camping or glamping anywhere near Whitland with a dog in tow, Ruby's Field is the sort of place that'll save your sanity. It's a secure dog park - basically a proper fenced area where your dog can actually run about without you having a heart attack every time they spot a rabbit. You get genuine off-lead freedom, which is rarer than you'd think in rural Wales.

The setup is straightforward: enclosed space, grass underfoot, and the peace of mind that comes with secure fencing. Dogs get to be dogs. Owners get to breathe. It's not fancy or Instagram-worthy, but that's rather the point.

This works brilliantly if you're bunking down at Llain Farm Glamping - practically on the doorstep at 0.1 miles - or any of the other camping spots scattered around (Frowen Fields, Westwales, Cowpots are all within easy driving distance). After a day of walking the Carmarthenshire countryside or exploring the quiet lanes between Whitland and the coast, your dog gets a proper run-around without lead-tangling nonsense.

Anyone with an energetic dog absolutely should factor this in. It's not a destination on its own - you're not driving an hour out of your way for it - but as part of a camping holiday in the area, it's genuinely useful. Pack a tennis ball and give yourself an hour. Free or paid, opening hours unclear, but worth ringing ahead if you're planning your stay.
