The walk up Rowhill, just outside Addlestone, is Surrey at its most unassuming - no dramatic peaks here, just a steady climb through woodland that rewards you with proper views across the Thames Valley when you reach the top. It's not the sort of place that'll take your breath away, but it's a cracking spot for a morning walk, especially if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks around Chertsey or Weybridge.

The hill itself is accessible enough for families with children, though the path can get muddy after rain. Allow a good hour for the walk and views, longer if you're the type to sit about at the summit with a flask. History buffs might find the area interesting given Surrey's Roman connections, though don't expect much in the way of interpretation on the ground.

What makes it worthwhile is the context. Rowhill works best as part of a wider walking loop if you're spending a week at Chertsey Camping or Weybridge Park Estates - pair it with a stroll around nearby Addlestone or a spin along the Thames Path, and you've got yourself a decent day out. The Thames Valley views from the top are genuinely pleasant on a clear day, and the woodland walk itself is far less crowded than the honey-pots further east. It's free, obviously. Go on a weekday morning if you can - you'll likely have it to yourself.
