Rowfant Trail

The Rowfant Trail is a walking route through the Sussex Weald that kicks off near Haywards Heath and takes you through proper countryside - woodland, fields, the occasional farm gate. It's less about a single destination and more about the walk itself, which suits people who want to stretch their legs without needing a dramatic viewpoint at the end to justify the effort.

You'll pass through villages and alongside streams, with enough variation to keep things interesting over a couple of hours. It's a solid choice for families with kids old enough to walk a few miles without complaining, or anyone after a gentle afternoon ramble. The terrain is mostly manageable, though there are muddier sections if you've had rain.

There's no formal visitor centre or facilities along the route - bring water and a decent map or download it beforehand. It's free to walk, naturally. Spring and early autumn are your best bets weather-wise; winter can be a bog.
