Roundshill Park Wood

A proper woodland walk without the tourist crowds. Roundshill Park Wood sits just outside Cranbrook and feels like the kind of place locals have known about for years without bothering to tell anyone else.

The woodland itself is dense enough to feel like a genuine escape - mature trees, decent paths, and that earthy smell that means you're actually in a forest rather than a manicured park. You'll find mixed broadleaf woodland typical of Kent, with the ground covered in ferns and moss depending on the season. Best suited to walkers and families with kids old enough to enjoy a proper trail rather than a flat loop. History types won't find much in terms of buildings or heritage, but there's something rather satisfying about walking through woodland that's been here far longer than Cranbrook itself.

Allow a good hour for a decent wander, maybe two if you're the thorough type. It's the sort of spot worth combining with a nearby glamping stay - Go Glamp and Wood View Farm Glamping are both within striking distance, making this ideal for that forest-bathing experience without the price tag of the more famous woodland attractions elsewhere in Kent. Come outside school holidays if you want the paths mostly to yourself.
