Round Wood

What you get here is straightforward: trees, space, and the chance to stretch your legs without fighting crowds. There's something refreshing about a forest that doesn't feel designed for visitors - no visitor centre, no gift shop, just the woods doing what woods do. Bring good boots though; it can get muddy, especially after rain.

Walkers will find the most value. If you're after a gentle hour's ramble, you'll manage that easily. Want something longer? The paths connect well enough to eat up a morning. Families with older kids who don't mind getting a bit lost will enjoy it; younger ones might lose interest if you're aiming for more than 45 minutes.

It works nicely as part of a broader Suffolk park holiday - the nearby options like Priory Park and Suffolk Steel House & Glamping put you within reasonable distance if you're staying in the area. Timing-wise, spring when the undergrowth comes alive is lovely, and autumn if you want the light through the leaves without the summer midges.
