Round Wood

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured attraction, Round Wood sits just outside Faversham and delivers exactly what it says on the tin - trees, paths, and a bit of peace. The forest floor is dense with beech and oak, with enough variation in the terrain to keep a decent walk interesting without being exhausting.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's not a destination that demands a full afternoon, but it's the sort of place you'd factor in as part of a longer loop around the Faversham area - particularly if you're basing yourself at Painters Farm Camping Site or Seasalter Holiday Park nearby. The paths are manageable for families with older kids, though very young ones might find the uneven ground a bit much. Allow an hour to ninety minutes depending on which way you go round.

Bring decent boots if it's been wet. There's minimal infrastructure, which is either the whole appeal or a drawback depending on your outlook. No cafe, no visitor centre, no charge as far as I can tell - it's genuinely just woodland access.

The real value here is that it breaks up a Kent coastal stay without requiring a car journey. Faversham itself has proper charm if you fancy poking around the high street afterwards, and the surrounding area has enough going on that you could happily spend three or four days working outwards from the holiday parks. Round Wood won't be the highlight of your trip, but it's a solid, unpretentious stretch of green that does its job.
