Round O

Round O is a proper bit of Norfolk woodland just inland from King's Lynn, the sort of place locals know about and visitors often miss entirely. It's a small forest walk rather than a major attraction - maybe 20-30 minutes if you amble through without rushing - but it does what it says on the tin: gives you trees, quiet, and a genuine sense of being away from it all.

The woodland itself is fairly typical Norfolk - flat, manageable terrain with established paths that won't leave you muddy even after rain. There's nothing dramatic about it, no ancient monuments or rare birds guaranteed to appear, but that's rather the point. Walkers will appreciate the straightforward route; families with younger kids can do the loop without complaints about tired legs; and if you're after somewhere to clear your head between beach visits, this works.

It sits within easy striking distance of the holiday parks clustered around Heacham and Manor Park - Parkdean Resorts' spots are barely a couple of miles away, while Searles Leisure Resort is much the same distance. After a morning at the beach or a day at one of the Norfolk coast attractions, Round O offers something genuinely different without requiring a proper expedition. Free access, no facilities to speak of, just woodland. Go early if you can to avoid the school-run traffic from King's Lynn heading this way. Worth a detour if you're staying locally and fancy a woodland walk, though don't expect anything that'll stay with you long after you've left.
