Round Copse

Round Copse is a proper woodland walk just outside Launceston - the sort of place locals know about but tourists often miss. You're walking through mixed deciduous forest with a gentle, meandering path that doesn't demand much of you physically, which is exactly why it works so well as a half-day outing. The trees create a canopy that keeps things cool even on warmer days, and there's something quietly restorative about being surrounded by that much green.

It's best suited to families with kids old enough to walk a couple of miles without constant cajoling, or to anyone wanting a straightforward woodland stroll without the faffing about of longer hikes. Walkers looking for dramatic vistas might find it a bit understated - this is about the forest itself, not the views from it. Allow an hour to ninety minutes depending on pace and whether you stop to poke about.

The lack of crowds is its main draw. You won't find crowds here scrambling over each other for Instagram shots. If you're staying at Trewithen Farm Glamping nearby, it's close enough for an easy morning wander before heading into Launceston town itself. Free access, as far as I can establish, though you should check locally. Go in spring or early summer when the woodland floor gets its best light filtering through the canopy - winter's darker and muddier underfoot.
