Rough Hill

The climb up Rough Hill takes you above Castle Douglas with views that stretch across Dumfries and Galloway in all directions. Free to visit, naturally. No visitor centre, no facilities, just you and the landscape. The view from the top is genuinely worth the effort, particularly on a clear day when you can pick out landmarks across the region. If you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks, it's a cracking way to burn off excess energy before heading back for dinner.
