Roseisle Distillery

Roseisle sits just outside Forres in Aberdeenshire, and what you're visiting is a serious grain whisky operation that's been producing spirit since 1978. The tour takes you through the actual production floor where you can watch the whole process unfold: the massive stills gleaming under industrial lights, the fermentation tanks, and the warehouses where barrels sit aging into something worth drinking.

It's best suited to whisky enthusiasts and adults who want to understand how the stuff actually gets made, rather than families after a day out. Kids will find the first twenty minutes interesting - all those pipes and steam - but after that, you're into the weeds of fermentation science and tasting notes. Allow two to three hours if you're doing the full experience with a tasting.

Forres itself is a handy base for exploring this corner of Speyside, and if you're camping at The Loft Glamping just down the road, you're well positioned for a morning visit before heading out to explore the wider distillery trail. The advantage of Roseisle over some of the bigger names is that it genuinely feels like a working facility rather than a visitor attraction that happens to make whisky. That authenticity is worth the drive.
