Roosters

Roosters is a working brewery just outside Harrogate, the kind of place where you can actually watch beer being made rather than just drinking the result. The brewery does tours and tastings - you get to see the copper vessels, learn what separates a decent pale ale from an average one, and most importantly, sample what they've actually brewed that week. It's proper hands-on stuff.

The operation is small enough to feel genuine but established enough that they know what they're doing. You'll spend a couple of hours here if you do the full tour and tasting experience. The brewery appeals most to actual beer enthusiasts rather than casual drinkers - if you're the type who cares about IBU counts and hop varieties, you'll get far more from it. Families with older teenagers might enjoy it too, though younger kids will probably lose interest once the technical chat starts.

Based near Harrogate, it works well as part of a caravan park stay in the area - Rudding Holiday Park and Harrogate Caravan Park are both within a mile or so. You could visit mid-afternoon, do the tour, grab something to eat at the brewery, then head back to your pitch. Worth building in if you're staying locally and fancy something different from the standard tourist trail. Advance booking is sensible for groups, and you'll want to check opening hours and prices on their site before you go - breweries can have patchy schedules depending on the season.
