The Roman Mansion near Blaenau Ffestiniog sits quietly in the Welsh hills, a proper archaeological find that doesn't announce itself loudly. What you get is the preserved remains of a substantial Roman dwelling - think hypocaust heating systems, stone foundations, and pottery shards that place it firmly in the second century AD. It's not Hadrian's Wall, but it tells you something real about Roman life at the frontier edge of Britain.
