Rodney Holland Wooden Sculptures

These wooden sculptures are scattered about Stirling, carved from timber with a real eye for character. You won't find a dedicated visitor centre or any faffing about with entrance fees. The sculptures are just there, dotted round the landscape. Perfect for a ramble, especially if you've got walkers in your group who appreciate public art without the gallery stuffiness. Most people spend an hour or so tracking down the various pieces rather than treating it as a single destination.

Crianlarich is your nearest proper town, about ten miles south, which makes this an easy add-on to a broader Stirling visit. If you're based at Tyndrum Holiday Park - just along the road - you could walk to some of these on a decent afternoon without much planning. Don't expect the scale of Forestry Commission sculpture trails in other regions, but that's rather the point. These work because they're understated.

Works best for adults interested in contemporary art and serious walkers. Young children might lose interest quickly unless they're naturally drawn to spotting things. Bring proper boots if there's been rain - it's Scottish countryside, after all.
