Rocky Meadow

Rocky Meadow sits on the edge of Bodmin Moor, and honestly, it's one of those places that rewards a bit of effort to find. The landscape here is properly raw - exposed granite outcrops jutting from moorland grass, the sort of view that makes you understand why people get obsessed with Cornwall's interior. It's not a manicured tourist spot. There's no visitor centre or cafe, just you and the moor.

You're looking at a straightforward moorland walk rather than a destination attraction. The rocks themselves are weathered and dramatic, especially in afternoon light when shadows turn them into proper sculpture. Walkers will absolutely rate it - the terrain's manageable enough for most fitness levels, though it gets boggy after rain. History types might appreciate that this is Bronze Age country; there's genuine archaeological weight to these moors. Kids under twelve might find it a bit bleak after twenty minutes unless they're already moorland-obsessed.

Allow an hour minimum if you're walking the full area. There's no entrance fee because there's nowhere to pay - it's just moorland you access freely. Timing-wise, go when weather's decent; low cloud rolls in fast here and suddenly your granite backdrop becomes invisible.

If you're based at Camp De Lank, just four miles away, this is a proper morning outing before heading back for lunch. It works well paired with other Bodmin attractions rather than as a solo trip. Real value for moorland enthusiasts, less so for those after typical Cornwall coastal drama.
