Randlay Waterfall

The walk to Randlay Waterfall takes you through proper woodland - the kind where you can actually hear yourself think, which is rare enough near Coalbrookdale. It's a modest cascade rather than some dramatic plunge, but that's rather the point. The water tumbles over a mix of rock and moss-covered stone, and in winter when the flow picks up, it's genuinely worth the trek.

This is fundamentally a walker's spot. The route through the nature reserve winds past old industrial heritage (you're in the heart of Ironbridge country, after all) and woodland that's slowly reclaiming what the mines and forges once tore apart. It takes about 90 minutes there and back at a leisurely pace, so children under eight might start complaining before the end. Teenagers and proper walkers will find it honest work without being punishing.

You won't find fancy facilities - no café, no visitor centre. It's free to access and best visited after rain when the water's actually worth seeing. Summer can be a bit underwhelming unless there's been recent weather.
