Radius Bench

A bench with a view, basically. The Radius Bench sits on high ground near Tadworth and gives you a proper sweep across the Surrey countryside - the kind of vista that makes you understand why people bother with this part of the world at all.

It's a straightforward spot. You walk to it, you sit on it, you look out. No frills, no visitor centre, no one charging you money. The bench itself is solid and weathered, facing the right direction for what the landscape has to offer. On a clear day you can see for miles; on a grey one it's pleasant enough if you're already in the area.

Walkers will find it worthwhile as a destination or a midpoint on a longer route. If you're staying at Henfold Lakes just down the road, it's a decent excuse to get out and stretch your legs - less than five miles away and easily reached. Families with older kids won't find much to occupy them for long, but younger walkers might enjoy the challenge of getting there.

The real value is as a break in a country walk rather than a standalone trip. Don't expect mystique or elaborate facilities. What you get is a bench, a view, and some quiet. Go when the weather's decent and you won't regret it. In winter or when it's bucketing down, there's no shelter and frankly you're better off elsewhere.
