Radford Road Meadows Nature Reserve

Walking into Radford Road Meadows feels like stepping back in time - this is proper old-school English meadowland, the sort of place you'd expect to find if you wandered off the beaten track near Leamington Spa. It's a nature reserve that rewards you for actually paying attention rather than just passing through.

You get wildflowers in season (spring through to late summer is best), grasshoppers, butterflies, and if you're lucky, birds that most people never notice because they're too busy checking their phones. It's not dramatic stuff - no visitor centre with a café, no marked trails with interpretive boards - just open meadow with trees scattered about and space to breathe.

Historically minded visitors will find it interesting because these meadows represent what the Warwickshire countryside actually looked like before intensive farming took over. For families with younger kids, it's a decent spot for letting them run about and spot insects, though they'll probably exhaust the place in an hour. Proper walkers and nature enthusiasts will get more from it - bring binoculars and a wildflower guide.

The reserve sits well within reach of several caravan parks - Harbury Fields Farm and Knight's Village at Warwick Castle are both under four miles away - so it works as a half-day venture if you're based in the area.
