Quob Copse

The woodland around Quob Copse, just outside Fareham, is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for - and that's precisely why it works. There's nothing fancy here: just proper Hampshire woodland with decent walking paths cutting through beech and oak, the kind of space where you can actually hear yourself think after an hour on the A27.

It's ideal for walkers wanting something low-key between caravan pitches. The paths are easy enough for families, though young children might find the lack of obvious landmarks a bit boring after forty minutes or so. What you get is genuine woodland walking without the crowds you'd face at somewhere like Queen Elizabeth Country Park further north. Bring a map on your phone - there's no visitor centre, no facilities, just trees and peace.

The nearest towns are Fareham itself (decent for supplies before heading out) and Portsmouth is within reach if you fancy a proper day out. If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - ScottsHaven or Beechen Glamping are both close - this makes a natural morning walk to clear your head before heading elsewhere. Solent Breezes is slightly further at just over five miles, but still manageable as a half-day outing.

Timing-wise, spring and autumn are genuinely lovely here. Summer can feel a bit enclosed under full canopy. Free access, no formal opening times - just turn up. Reckon on ninety minutes to two hours for a comfortable circular route without rushing.
