The sort of thing you'd walk straight past if someone hadn't mentioned it, then once you know about it, you can't help but notice.

It's the kind of landmark that appeals to people who like collecting unusual stories rather than ticking off major attractions. Not a destination in itself, but if you're exploring Brough on foot - which you might be if you're based at one of the nearby parks - it's worth a look. William's Den, just down the road, is a proper family spot with excellent reviews, and Cherry Burton Leisure Park offers another option if you're planning a longer stay in the area.

The bench works best as part of a wider walk around Brough itself. The town has enough character to justify a couple of hours wandering about, and you can easily incorporate this curiosity into a ramble. Don't come specifically for it - that would be daft - but do seek it out if you're in the neighbourhood. It's free, it's always there, and there's something quite charming about a place that doesn't try to be more than it is.
