Powrie Castle

It's genuinely worth a quick visit if you're camping at Tayport Links or Larick Campsite nearby, since both are within spitting distance. The walk is straightforward and takes maybe fifteen minutes from the road, making it ideal for families who want to stretch their legs without committing to a proper hike. The site itself won't keep you occupied for long - half an hour to forty minutes if you're thorough, less if kids are with you and they're not particularly interested in crumbling masonry.

History types will find it a modest affair compared to the bigger Fife castles, but it's the kind of stop that makes sense if you're already in the area visiting Tayport or exploring the Tay estuary. The views across the water are genuinely pleasant, and on a clear day you can pick out landmarks on the Perthshire side. Go early in the day if you can - the light's better, and you'll avoid the midges that sometimes plague the Fife coast.
