Postal Posse

The Postal Posse is Boomtown Fair's answer to the question nobody asked - what if your festival campsite had its own working postal service? It's a proper oddball concept, and that's rather the point. Located near Winchester, this is one of those things that makes sense only when you're actually there, surrounded by thousands of people in fancy dress and body glitter.

What you're getting is a functional post office that operates during the festival, complete with stamps and everything. You can send postcards home to your mum saying 'Having the time of my life, wish you were here' - except the postmark will say Boomtown Fair, which is infinitely cooler than just regular Winchester. It's the sort of detail that makes a festival feel like a fully realized world rather than just a field with a few stages.

Historically minded sorts and festival veterans who like the theatrical side of things will get a proper kick out of it. Families with older kids who fancy something a bit different will appreciate the novelty factor too. Young children might find it dull - it's essentially a post box with attitude.

Since this is part of Boomtown Fair, you'll need a festival ticket to access it. The event runs annually, usually in August. If you're camping nearby - Winchester Morn Hill and Holden Farm are both close by - you could easily make a long weekend of it. It's festival culture at its most whimsical, which tracks perfectly with why people make the trip to Winchester in the first place.
