About Pont y Wern
This is walker territory, no question. You're looking at anything from a short 20-minute wander from the road to a proper afternoon route if you combine it with other stretches of the Towy Valley. The river itself is the draw - it's clean, it moves nicely, and the woodland's thick enough that you feel properly away even though Llandeilo's only a few miles downriver. Kids will enjoy it if they're the type who like scrambling on banks and spotting the occasional bird, though there's no playground nonsense.
Free access as far as I can tell, and you can turn up whenever you like. Best visited when the water's running properly - autumn and winter aren't bad, spring even better. Summer can feel a bit dry and dusty.
If you're staying at one of the glamping spots nearby - Ravenscroft Retreats or Gelli Glamping are both within a couple of miles - this fills an hour or two nicely without burning half the day. Worth combining with a walk along the main Towy Valley path for something more substantial.
