Pont Fadog North Hut Circles

These Bronze Age circles sit on rough moorland above Talybont, and honestly, they're more about the walk than the structures themselves. You're looking at a handful of low stone foundations - essentially rings of rocks that once held Iron Age roundhouses - scattered across boggy terrain that'll test your boots. The remains are faint enough that you'll want to bring a map and perhaps a sense of humour about archaeological detective work.

History enthusiasts will get something out of it, though walkers are probably better served by the landscape itself. The views across towards Snowdonia make the trudge worthwhile, and on a clear day you can see why ancient people chose this spot. Allow a couple of hours if you're making it a proper outing, less if you're just checking the box on a longer moorland walk.

There's no visitor infrastructure - it's free, obviously, since it's just countryside - so bring water and decent weather forecasting. The nearest real facilities are back in Talybont. If you're staying at Shell Island or Hendre Mynach, both excellent caravan parks within a few miles, this works as a morning excursion before heading somewhere more actively entertaining. Lyons Sunnysands is closer but less well-reviewed, for what that's worth. Don't expect crowds or signage. Do expect mud and the occasional moment of wondering if you're actually looking at archaeology or just random rocks.
