Plockton viewpoint

The road down to Plockton pulls you in gently, winding through Highland landscape until suddenly the village spreads out below in a perfect crescent - red and white houses reflected in still water, palm trees swaying against Scottish hills. You'll want to stop at the main overlook before dropping into the village itself. Plockton itself is about a five-minute drive from Kyle of Lochalsh, so it works as a straightforward detour if you're heading to or from Skye. The village deserves more than just the viewpoint stop - walk down into it, grab coffee, poke around the harbour. You could easily spend two hours here without feeling rushed.

It's free, and there's roadside parking at the viewpoint itself, though it fills quickly during summer weekends. If you're camping at Reraig just over on Skye, this is close enough for an evening drive to catch the light changing across the water. Worth the short trip, especially if you've got decent weather.
