View of the Views

The drive up to View of the Views rewards you with exactly what the name promises - one of those rare vantage points where you can actually see why the Scottish Highlands have spent centuries getting themselves painted and photographed. Kyle of Lochalsh sits below, and on a clear day the views stretch across to Skye with enough drama to make your phone camera feel inadequate.

It's a straightforward stop rather than a destination in itself. Park up, get out, stand there for ten minutes taking pictures you'll never quite capture properly, then head back down. Most visitors give it twenty minutes maximum, which is fine because that's genuinely how long you need to appreciate what's on offer. No facilities, no café, no gift shop - just a viewpoint doing exactly one thing well.

Historically minded types won't find much here beyond the landscape itself, but walkers definitely should include it if they're exploring the area. Families with young children might find it a bit underwhelming unless the weather cooperates and visibility is excellent. Bad weather completely kills the appeal, so timing matters more than most stops.

If you're based at Reraig Caravan & Camping Skye or Glenshiel Campsite, both just a few miles away, this works perfectly as a short morning jaunt before moving on to more involved walks or attractions. It's the sort of place that takes ten minutes to get right and frankly won't hold your attention beyond that, but those ten minutes are genuinely special when conditions align.
