A pirate show in North Yorkshire feels like it shouldn't work - you're nowhere near the coast, miles inland where the landscape rolls green and sheep outnumber tourists. Yet here it is, and it's genuinely daft fun if you've got kids in tow or you're the sort of adult who doesn't mind a bit of theatrical nonsense.

The show fills a gap in the day nicely, though we'd not recommend making it your sole reason for a holiday in the area.

Factor in an hour or so all in, including a potential wait beforehand. It's the kind of spot that works as part of a broader North Yorkshire trip - combine it with Pickering's steam railway or a walk in the surrounding countryside and you've got a solid day sorted.
