If you're staying at Barleylands Campsite just four miles away, it's absolutely the kind of spot to explore on a morning or late afternoon when the light's decent. Give it twenty minutes total, including the climb and a pause at the top to catch your breath and take in the view. The Essex countryside isn't everybody's cup of tea - it's gentle rather than dramatic - but Pigeon Mount gives you the county's highest perspective without any real effort. Worth squeezing in if you're already in Billericay, but don't drive there specially.
