What you get instead is straightforward walking through dense trees, the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think.

Walkers will find it decent enough for a couple of hours, though it's fairly flat and the novelty wears off once you've done a loop. There's nothing marked as a destination - no tower, no café, no reason to linger beyond the walk itself. Families with young kids might manage one circuit before boredom sets in. It's the sort of forest that works best as a morning leg of something bigger rather than a day trip in itself.

Stay at Cirencester Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite just over a mile away and you've got an easy stroll before breakfast. If you're based at Hoburne Cotswold Holiday Park five miles south, it's worth the drive for a quick leg-stretch between other activities in the Cotswolds. The forest is free and unsupervised - turn up when you like. Go early to avoid anyone else. Bring decent shoes because the ground gets boggy after rain. Don't expect signage or facilities. Just trees, quiet, and a straightforward walk.
