The Penycae Inn sits in proper remote Mid Wales territory - the kind of place where you've definitely taken a wrong turn unless you meant to be there. If you're based at Brecon Beacons Camping & Caravan Park or the posher Four Falls Glamping nearby, it's worth the drive out for an evening. The pubs closer to Swansea are slicker and more tourist-ready, but they lack this worn-in authenticity.

The real appeal is stepping into something genuinely local, not performed for visitors. You'll find proper ales, probably a fire in winter, and zero pretence. It's not a destination attraction - it's a genuine place where people live and drink. That's what makes it worth finding.
