Pencannow Point

The walk out to Pencannow Point rewards you with one of those coast views that makes you understand why people move to Cornwall. It's a proper clifftop vantage point near Bude where the Atlantic does its thing - crashing against dark rock, sending spray up on wilder days. The headland itself isn't dramatic in the showy sense; there's no castle or café waiting at the end. What you get is space, air, and the kind of uncluttered horizon that clears your head after an hour in the car.

This is walker territory, really. Families with toddlers might find the approach bit steep for what it is, and the paths aren't manicured, so proper shoes matter. Give yourself 45 minutes there and back if you're taking it easy, or 30 if you're just after the quick fix. The best light is usually late afternoon when the sun's lower and everything looks less washed out.

It fits nicely into a broader Bude coastal loop. You're close enough to make it part of a half-day outing - head here, then potter into Bude town centre for fish and chips afterwards. Both Pencuke Farm Holiday Cottages and the Bude Camping and Caravanning Club Site are within easy driving distance, so it's a solid walk if you're based at either. Not a showstopper, but genuinely good if you like your viewpoints honest and wind-swept.
