Parson's Copse

Dense woodland unfolds along this stretch of North Devon coast, offering proper wild walking just inland from Ilfracombe's busier seafront. The copse feels genuinely untouched - moss-covered trees lean at odd angles, bracken grows waist-high in summer, and the paths are more suggestion than certainty.

Dog walkers and serious hikers will love the challenge here. It's not manicured National Trust territory - expect muddy boots and the occasional bramble scratch. Families with very young children might struggle with the uneven terrain, but teenagers looking for adventure will find plenty of hidden corners to explore.

The real joy lies in stumbling upon unexpected clearings where coastal views break through the canopy. On clear days, you can glimpse Lundy Island across the Bristol Channel. Allow at least an hour for a proper ramble, though you could easily spend half a day here if you're the exploring type.
